{VOICE POST}

[There's the sound of paper rustling, and of a chair creaking slightly]

Give me a sentence. Use the voice post function, but keep the volume down.

OOC: She's stepping up her game, yo.

A lot of it was due to the scandals that he managed to get mixed up in, but some of his poetry itself caused a stir.

He covered a range of topics, but there was one in particular, Don Juan, that shocked people at the time. It was based on the legend, but instead of portraying Don Juan as a womaniser, he was portrayed as the opposite. Besides that, it was seen by many as "immoral." He didn't even put his name to it when it was first published.

What exactly is the "opposite" of a womanizer?

In this case, one who is easily seduced by women.

I see.

We have a lot of idiots like that here.

"Here" as in the community, or "here" as in your world specifically?

The community. They hit on every woman in sight.

I just said it was, didn't I?

It's incredibly irritating.

May I ask why you wanted people to give you sentences?

Re: [Voice]

To write in English lettering.

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] ofhopeandglory.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Why? What sort of lettering do they use on your homeworld?

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently some worlds call it "Chinese".

Re: [Voice]

And is that used everywhere?

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. We have a universal language as well as a universal writing system; I don't understand why other worlds would do otherwise. Our way is much more efficient.

It's not really one of those things which can be chosen as such - at least, not on Earth. Many countries were isolated here when they first began developing, so it's no surprise that different languages developed along with them.

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Then create a standard language.

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] ofhopeandglory.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not as simple as that. The closest we've got is English, and that's only because of the Empire. Even then, it's not likely to happen. People aren't going to let their languages go without a fight.

Re: [Voice]

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
They can still speak their old languages. Just have everyone learn the new one in addition.

Teaching billions of people to speak a new language would be no mean feat. I'm sure the idiot who invented Esperanto would agree with me.
