Ty Lee's response was quiet and muffled. "...Maybe, Azula."

Hm. "Just maybe?" She tried to look at Ty Lee's face, but it was buried against her neck.

Azula hated crying- she really did. It was irritating, and pathetic, and often loud. Her attitude about it had always been that if people must cry, they shouldn't do it around her. Ty Lee had certainly never been an exception to this- she had always cried easily, and over the smallest things (or so it seemed to Azula)- and if it looked like she would need more than a pat on the shoulder or a kind word to get her to stop, Azula had never shied away from telling her point-blank to go cry somewhere else.

But if Ty Lee was actually legitimately distraught- hurt- by something important, as she had claimed... perhaps that was a bit different. After all, Azula had told her that she could cry under such circumstances, hadn't she? Ty Lee was permitted much more weakness than Azula was- both by others, and by Azula herself. If Ty Lee were to ever feel the need to cry seriously- over something more severe than someone calling her ugly, or insulting her intelligence- and if she were to ever give into that temptation in the presence of Azula...

Maybe that would mean that Ty Lee really did trust her after all.

She didn't answer right away, it wasn't easy to answer. Azula had said...some not nice things before. Really not nice things. That's how she was and Ty Lee had accepted that but...She pressed closer.

"I...don't know."

Her voice was quiet, muffled. Ty Lee was thinking hard about what Azula had said before and that was...distressing somewhat.

"Hmmm." Azula really did not understand why Ty Lee had been so upset by her words. Really, why did it matter to her whether Azula trusted her or not? It wasn't as if it would affect her in any way. Ty Lee was just so... emotional sometimes.

Azula felt Ty Lee settling closer, and responded by lightly rubbing her cheek against the top of her head.

Ty Lee felt Azula's movement. Her mind brought back images of that...There was a chance she was going to start crying, really sometimes Azula could be so careless.

Azula absently toyed with a strand of Ty Lee's hair, thinking.

She gave a small sob.

... Ah. This was... hm.

"... Ty Lee?" Her voice was a bit unsure.

"Y-yeah?" She was crying again.

Azula did not know how to deal with this. Gingerly, she rubbed Ty Lee's back. "... What's wrong?"

"I...don't know."

Azula sighed irritatedly. That wasn't exactly helpful. Turning to the side slightly, she slid both of her arms all the way around Ty Lee and hugged her full-on.

"... It's all right," she whispered.

"...It is?" She didn't notice the change in position much.

"Mmm-hmm." Azula frowned slightly. She had no idea what Ty Lee wanted her to say. All she knew was what she wanted to hear when she was upset. Perhaps that would work.

"It's all right," Azula repeated, her voice still very quiet. "I'm staying here. I'm not going to leave you alone. I promise."

"...Okay." Her voice was slightly hoarse, but the sobs were quieter. But will you be mean?

Azula continued to rub her back rhythmically. Sliding back a bit from the edge of the bed (and tugging Ty Lee along with her), she leaned back against the pillows.

She let Azula pull her. It was sort of nice..

Pulling up the blankets, Azula cocooned the two of them together. She had always liked the comfort, the warmth, the feel of being wrapped up in something... perhaps it would help Ty Lee feel better.

"You don't need to be sad," she whispered. "It won't make any difference to you, really."

"...It won't?" It came out hoarse and not at all like she meant it.

She didn't mind being under the blankets but she didn't quite...feel righ cat. It was hard to explain, really.

"Probably not." Though for some reason, that thought all of a sudden made Azula sad, and it was just... ugh, pathetic. She quickly turned her face away, but kept her arms around Ty Lee.

Ty Lee looked and sniffed. Why was she doing..? She reached up to Azula's cheek, placing a hand there.

Azula stiffened when she felt Ty Lee touch her face- just a couple unruly tears had escaped her eyes, and she wasn't sure if Ty Lee had felt them or not. She pulled away from her hand, leaning back towards Ty Lee and kissing her cheek (it made her lips taste salty) before burying her face against Ty Lee's shoulder. Her hand never ceased its circular motion on Ty Lee's back.

Ty Lee was here to make herself feel better, not Azula- Azula didn't need to be comforted; she had no reason to be sad. She wasn't sad. Ty Lee was the weak one; Ty Lee was the one who cried. Princess Azula never cried. Never.

Ty Lee had thought she felt something but, no. It couldn't have been. She felt a bit better now...the movement made her feel, close. She gave a sigh, it shuddered slightly due to what had been happening before but that was no surprise.

Azula shifted closer still, pressing her face against the other girl's shoulder. "... Ty Lee?"

"Yeah..?
