Not caring about anyone is easier. It's less... messy. It'll allow me to do my job without having to worry about having a particularly bad day and not being able to bend lightning when the Avatar shows up and needs to be killed.

I could lock you up and force you to stay, but I... it would change something; I'm not sure what. And I'm not sure why it matters to me, but it does.
