Stop breaking into my house.

I always use proper language: sometimes the only proper language for a fucking vulgar situation is fucking vulgar.

Captian Joshua Castellano Preston, Treasure Island ANIMa Corps. A soldier in a Resistance against an inhuman foe.

And you would be?

Fire Lord Azula of the Fire Nation.

I'm a soldier, too.

[identity profile] bittervictor.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Fire Lord?" Sounds like you're the brass - uh, command; they wear brass rank pins.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Fire Lord" is the title of the leader of the Fire Nation.

[identity profile] bittervictor.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
...Daamn. Uh, is there an official mode of address I should be using, madam?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

"Fire Lord" or "Your Majesty". Either are considered to be acceptable.

[identity profile] bittervictor.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, your Majesty. Didn't realize.

Uh, take it your world is not as high tech as mine is. Like, iron weapons and sailing ships and such.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
... That's true. How did you guess?

[identity profile] bittervictor.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
The kind of rank system you use. "Lord" is pretty archaic in my world, and "Fire..." is a bit too poetic. "Grenadier" or "Rifleman" - describing WHAT you do - is more what our 'modern' military... did.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
The title "Fire Lord" is derived from our country name, "Fire Nation"-- which is in turn derived from our elemental abilities.

Does your world have "presidents" rather than lords or kings?

[identity profile] bittervictor.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
...It did, Before. Uh, before the invasion.

Now we've got my da, who calls himself the Colonel. It fits, I guess. I'm not really any more of a Captian than he's a Colonel.

Elemental abilities? ...you from Katara's world?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
She's a waterbender. An enemy.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-07-01 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
... Why aren't you "any more of a captain than he is a colonel"?

[identity profile] bittervictor.livejournal.com 2010-07-01 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's mostly for morale. I lead another Pilot into combat, above me is the Major (who leads my squad and one of her own), and then the Colonel.

We'd probably be much lower rank in the US Marines, if they were still around.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-07-01 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"US" would refer to "the United States", correct?

[identity profile] bittervictor.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Marines... guys who fight on and from sea ships, if you didn't know. "Fixing the Army's Messes Since The Revolutionary War."

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting. We certainly do have people who fight from ships, but we don't call them "marines".

We got more specialized.

Interesting.
