It's nothing at all like the movies. I don't spend nearly that much time in bars.

I wouldn't know the clichés; I haven't seen any movies about detectives.

I've seen most of them. My wife loves all that noir stuff from last century. She teases me about not being as good as movie detectives.

They're somewhat fictionalized accounts of real events, I'm told. I don't know enough about British history to tell you, but you could look it up.
