Even though I've never actually gone shopping on another world, it's interesting to see what styles and fashions are popular in other places. This, I believe, is all Earth-- most of the websites I encounter seem to be, and a lot of it looks familiar.

It does make me curious, however. If clothing similar to Fire Nation dress exists on Earth worlds, why am I always stared at when I wear my day clothes in public?

OOC: I AM SO ADDICTED TO THIS WEBSITE YOU HAVE NO IDEA. And I'm not even interested in fashion. Whut.

You asked why people are staring. That's why. You're in America, aren't you? They probably think you're filming a movie or going to a costume party.

I'm not in America right now, but I've been there.

Nothing on that website said they were only worn during holidays.

He is the last person on Earth anyone should take fashion tips from.

That site is all cheongsams. Those are different.

pfffft

I don't see how. Plenty of people wear similar things here, too.

They're different on Earth.

Long ones make you look like you're going to a formal party. Short ones make you look like a stewardess.

"LOL oh god no 8|"

People wear cheongsams to formal events? They're far more suited for day clothes or casual parties.

They make you take a fashion test to get into Section 9. You have to fail it.

Clothing got a lot less formal in the last century or so.

AWESOME, I'D TOTALLY GET IN

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That'll never happen here.

Maybe, maybe not.

You should get some jeans next time you're on Earth. It'll help you blend in.

I'll treasure it forever 8)

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't have those here. What are they?

[identity profile] honestcop.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Casual pants made out of a blue canvas fabric. It's practically the teenage uniform.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
These (https://russianflex.pbworks.com/f/Jeans.jpg)? I've seen them before, I just never know what they were called.

[identity profile] honestcop.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, those. They come in all sorts of styles.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see how people can wear them; they look clingy, rough, and uncomfortable.

[identity profile] honestcop.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't find them uncomfortable, but it's probably a matter of what you're used to.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Heavy skirts are fine, but I don't like heavy pants.

[identity profile] honestcop.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what you're comparing them to, but they're not that heavy. Suit fabric is a lot heavier.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
They certainly look heavy.

All the pants I own are silk.

[identity profile] honestcop.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, they're heavier than silk. You might not like them.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably not.

I don't see why I'd need to blend in, anyway.

[identity profile] honestcop.livejournal.com 2009-09-07 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No, blending in doesn't strike me as your style.
