(no subject)

My sixteenth birthday is in one month.

Things will have to be different this year.

It probably wouldn't leave the best impression to have it off-world, though perhaps you can simply appear to hold it on your own.

Only a few people on my world know of the existence of the community and of other worlds. And besides, I wasn't planning on having a celebration. One would be traditional, obviously, but if I can't have it in the Fire Nation there wouldn't be any point to it.

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I thought as much.

It may do well for your people to see one.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
It would be irresponsible to make that knowledge public at this point in time.

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I meant a celebration; I can certainly agree with not sharing knowledge of this place.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Any unnecessary public audience is out of the question; I'm not going to risk being assassinated any more than I have to. And our national celebrations have continued as they always do; we had the Fire Lily festivals earlier this month. I wasn't around for them.

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is why I suggested you only appear to be there; it would show confidence, faith in your protectors, hope for the future. And when any assassination attempt inevitably fail, it will be a boost to your side's morale and a strike to theirs.

I'm not having a celebration. I don't want one. Not like this.

'Want' and 'should' can lead to very different places.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not a matter of what I should do! A celebration is traditional, but it isn't necessary!

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Not necessary, no, but it may still help - surely anything to temper their crude rebellion would be worth it?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't do anything. Don't pretend to be knowledgeable about my--

I don't want to, and I'm not going to!

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I may not know your world specifically, Fire Lord, but I've known countless others in similar situations.

All right. Can I still get you a present?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
... A present. Why?

It's...what one does, when someone they like has a birthday.

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I enjoy intelligent conversation.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
So you mean you occasionally like talking to me. That's different from liking somebody.

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, face to face interaction is a bit more difficult, but I did enjoy that meeting as well.

Isn't that the definition, Fire Lord, enjoying one's company?

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...Well. I've liked a fair amount of people in my time, and that does seem to cover it.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I generally don't like anyone.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
People are generally meaningless. Tools, to be discarded once they're no longer of use.

[identity profile] beigerenegade.livejournal.com 2009-08-24 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose it would be simpler to think of them that way. It's different here, though, isn't it? It's harder to use people on different worlds.
