My sixteenth birthday is in one month.

Things will have to be different this year.

It still puts you leagues above some of the people, and I use that term loosely, that I've met. You're ruthless, yes - many rulers are. I don't entirely approve, honestly, but that doesn't give me the right to dismiss you as a monster.

I don't believe you're quite so heartless, either.

That I could be affected by something like that. That I would allow it to throw me. That I would EVER allow something so fragile to matter that much.

It's not a weakness, to be hurt by such things.

It's weak, it's foolish, and I would NEVER allow it to happen.

It's neither. Such emotions don't need to be a detriment. They're entirely natural - and they can give you strength if you let them.

Any strength to be gained can also come from other, better things. I don't feel them.
