(no subject)

The Fire Nation has had quite a few enemies show up here lately.

It doesn't matter. Father's appearance far outdid all of that.

I see. Your society is based around this...ability? How do you do that, exactly? 'Bend fire'?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We're not really based around it, but it's an integral part of our culture.

It's an innate ability. You're either born with it or you're not. Of course, some benders are more talented than others.

[identity profile] reliablekiller.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. So, are the 'most talented' as it were, in charge? And what happens to people that aren't born with it?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It often happens that way, but it's not necessarily a requirement.

Nothing "happens" to nonbenders. We don't kill them all, if that's what you're thinking.

[identity profile] reliablekiller.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It was not what I was thinking, though perhaps the idea itself was there. Societies often based around a specific feature can be...uncompromising...against those that do not have it.

So, it 'often' happens that the strongest are in charge. Is that passed down along family lines?

Oh, I am sorry for asking so many questions...my uncle taught me to try and learn everything I can about something, because you never know when it might be useful. And if I'm stuck with no other websites to look at, I might as well learn, yes?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
We're not like that.

The throne is; bending isn't. We haven't had a nonbender Fire Lord in a very long time, though

[identity profile] reliablekiller.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's lovely to hear, then!

So what would happen, now, if a non-bender was in line for the throne?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
If they were fit for the position, then they would take the throne. Haven't I made that clear?

[identity profile] reliablekiller.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm...I suppose so!

So how...hmm...extravagant, or fancy, or...something like that...is Fire Bending?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends on what you're using it for.

[identity profile] reliablekiller.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, in that case, what do you use it for? Is it a weapon? It seems as though fire would primarily be a weapon. Perhaps for construction purposes though, or irrigation...

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's often used for fighting.
