Death (Except Not Really)

OOC: Aftermath of this.

Azula had never considered her own death before- not seriously, at any rate. The possibility that she would die in battle had never crossed her mind (why would it, when she spent most of her time fighting a ragtag group of children?), but then again, she had to admit that she had never been able to see herself withering away and dying of old age; going without a fight.

Quietly, Azula took stock of her situation. After Richard had left and she had collapsed, her legs (which were, of course, still frozen to the ground) had almost been wrenched out of their sockets by her fall. Her arms, too, had hit the ground rather hard, and this time she hadn't been able to keep from crying out quite loudly. His parting gift- an iceball straight to the gut- left her with an unsettlingly sharp pain in her stomach that hurt more than anything else when she tried to move even just the slightest bit. She didn't want to know what that was all about. Her only comfort was the reminder that her opponent had been seriously injured himself- she doubted that he would recover from her attack.

It really wasn't a bad day- it was quite nice out, actually. The sun was shining. The grass was soft. There were worse places to die, really.

Azula was alone. No one was coming for her; no one even knew she was here, save from that one kitchen boy who had seen her heading out- and it wasn't as if he was going to come searching for her when she didn't return.

The virus would probably have worn off by the time her funeral took place. She wondered if Ty Lee would go.

OOC: And FYI- she's not really going to die (I can't even read deathfic most of the time), she just thinks she is. If no one shows up to rescue her then I'll... figure something out? XD

"You need help." Karen finished fitting the splint to Azula's arm and started taping it in place. "And I mean it. You might have a chance, we have a doctor coming here as soon as she can, but it's no good if you strain yourself too much before she gets here."

[At least after the virus wears off she'll get to gloat about who was overconfident and who had the right idea. 'Course she might want to make her way offworld before she starts on that.]

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't need you," she growled, ignoring Karen's reasoning in favor of continuing on with her "journey". "Go away, now."

OOC: XD

"You need someone. I'm here." Karen pulled a second splint from the first aid kit. "I'm not going to stand around waiting while you decide to die, Azula-hime."

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't want you." She had no idea what "Azula-hime" meant, but this little brat was not on the very short list of people permitted to call her anything but 'princess'. Narrowing her eyes even further, kept moving away. It was a slow process, and she could feel herself growing weaker by the minute, but she was not going to allow herself to die before reaching Ty Lee.
oceanicbutterfly: (oh crap)

[personal profile] oceanicbutterfly 2008-07-10 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
It was pretty obvious who Azula wanted. (It was also pretty obvious that Karen was the last person she wanted, but she pushed that thought aside.) "Ty Lee needs to get things ready for the doctor. Your people will listen to her."

Before she started on the princess's other arm, Karen felt her forehead--Dr. Cuddy had said to do that, to see if she had a fever. She did, she was burning up. Burning up... "You fire...benders don't burst into flames when you're badly hurt or anything, do you?"

[Hey, it's a reasonable question, right?]

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
"No." If the court doctors were brought in... well. Questions would be asked. People would start to wonder who exactly had beaten the unbeatable Princess Azula. That could not happen.

"Ty Lee." Had she gone yet? Azula turned her head to the side to try to see, but that combined with her ongoing movement to the side (as well as the pain from her stomach and all four of her limbs, made worse by how she kept continuously having to pull away from the stupid girl) made her so dizzy she blacked out for a few seconds.

Ignoring Karen's question, she focused all her attention on movement. Things would be so much easier if at least one of her arms was operational- and if the idiot would stop trying to splint her. None of that mattered now... it'd be over soon enough.

OOC: XD It is, though of course Azula sees it as stupid. :P
oceanicbutterfly: (oh crap)

Azula had just said a little, and then gone quiet... Karen dropped the splint and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Azula-hime? Azula-hime! Stay with me!"

[Well, yes. Just like if Azula asked Karen how often she has to dye her hair to keep it that color.]

[identity profile] hotpinkaura.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Now, stop moving so much."

Ty Lee had been watching, out of the way but had noticed Azula moving towards her. In response she moved to Azula's side, sitting there. "I'm right here, Azula."

Looking at Karen, she gave a helpless shrug. "And I don't think she's going just yet..."

((Ack, sorry about that. >>))

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Azula moved just a little bit closer, lifting her head slightly (even this was an effort) and resting it in Ty Lee's lap. That was... better. She exhaled with relief. The moment she had stopped moving, the pain had lessened- it was still awful, but not as bad as it was when she had been sliding across the ground. She closed her eyes, and was finally still.

[identity profile] hotpinkaura.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Laying her hand on Azula's forehead, again it was hot with fever, wiping a back hair. "Now, just stay here for a while, alright, Azula?"

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmmm." Azula shivered again. It would have been nice to have a blanket... something to stave away the chill of death, or fever, or whatever it was. But she supposed it didn't really matter all that much now.

OOC: ... Because she still thinks she's going to die. *eye rollllll* GAWD I hate writing death scenes. XD

[identity profile] hotpinkaura.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Like , just stay here with Karen and I'm going to get the court doctors to set something up and we'll get you back."

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Azula's eyes flew open. "No."

[identity profile] hotpinkaura.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Ty Lee put her hands on either side of Azula's face. The fever must be bad... "Don't worry, we'll take care of it."

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Stay here." Court doctors would ask questions. She was not going back to the palace. She didn't want any doctors at all.

Azula's eyes fluttered. Just keeping them open was starting to get exhausting, but she tried to look up at Ty Lee anyway.

[identity profile] hotpinkaura.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"If I don't..."

The doctors would help, the always would. But...Azula. Oh. This was confusing.

[identity profile] hotpinkaura.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Dead people don't talk."

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
That wasn't what I meant, you idiot. "Soon." Just stay with me.

The blackout lasted little more than a second or two- and when she came to, the expression on her face suggested that she would have liked nothing more than to reduce Karen to a pile of ash.

"Let... me... go." Stupid girl; hadn't she realized that grabbing her would hurt?

OOC: What color is it? It looks black to me.
oceanicbutterfly: (sad)

[personal profile] oceanicbutterfly 2008-07-10 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, just because Azula couldn't incinerate Karen at the moment didn't mean she couldn't hurt her another way. Karen quickly let go of the girl's shoulders and backed away. "I'm sorry." After a moment, she remembered the splint, and got to work again.

[I'd say shuffle this exchange in just before Ty Lee's reply, and let the mentioned moment overlap with the next couple of posts. Also: It's blue, actually. Not as ludicrously bright blue as some characters have, but...]

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Azula growled in annoyance. Why couldn't she just leave her alone? "Stop it."

OOC: Sure, that's fine with me. And yeah, about the hair color... I didn't even notice, but now that I'm thinking about it I can kind of see it in some of the userpics. XD
