In the Palace Gardens

Azula knew from experience that when Ty Lee said "I'm coming anyway", she meant it- and for once, she wasn't in the mood to argue, or to threaten, or to fight.

She hated viruses.

The gardens were deserted, as she knew they would be- it was a couple of hours after midnight, after all. She didn't carry a candle, or anything that might alert someone to her presence. The full moon was bright enough to see by- and, having grown up here, she knew the grounds well.

She wasn't staying in her room, of course. Servants were working on fixing the bed, and the curtains, and the armoire- all of which had been burned during the... incident with that despicable woman. For the time being, Azula had relocated to one of the palace's many guest rooms, and while it was certainly spacious and comfortable, and and had all the amenities she desired, it wasn't her room.

It wasn't as though she couldn't handle anything less than the highest luxuries, of course- after all, how much time had she spent in the wilderness, searching for the Avatar?

At the moment, however, Azula wanted something familiar.

Ty Lee wrapped her arms gently around the princess.

"No...please. It hurts."

YOU think it hurts? Idiot. Azula angrily wiped at her eyes. She stiffened and leaned away slightly, but didn't totally pull away from Ty Lee.

"I hate you. Go away."

She wasn't even trying anymore, really.

Ty Lee ignored it, she had to, really. She pressed closer and gripped tighter. "No..please."

Oh for goodness' sake, she was actually crying- and even though she had sworn that she would never again do such a thing in front of Ty Lee, she had tears on her face and in her voice.

"You're going to regret this. You're going to wake up in a few days and realize..."

"Don't cry."

Ty Lee clutched her tighter, letting herself savor the moment somewhat. What was she doing...this wasn't what she was.

"No...No, I won't. I swear I won't."

"I'm not crying." A lie, obviously.

"You will. You don't know... you're affected. You're going to stop..."

And it was going to hurt.

"No, I'm not."

She wanted Azula to turn around, to work with her instead of saying she didn't care.

This was absolutely excruciatingly painful. She wanted to pull away, but she also desperately wanted to stay. Her chest ached, worse than it ever had before, and she wasn't sure which alternative- if any- would make it better.

She should have realized the night before that it was only a virus. How in the world had she let what she wanted cloud what was? Azula was a realist. It wasn't like her, at all.

She laid her head on Azula's shoulder, burrowing her face into neck. Ty Lee just didn't understand...before, the other nights...what made this any different? There was no difference, barring they were in the garden. Did they need somewhere more private? That would be fine with her...

Azula's breathing was uneven and hitched. She wasn't resisting so much anymore, but she still didn't turn around.

"I'm going to miss you..." she breathed, almost inaudibly. It was all right; she could say this sort of thing now. Maybe Ty Lee wouldn't even remember afterwards... her own memories of the alignment virus were a bit hazy.

"I'm...not going anywhere."

Azula sighed. She wished Ty Lee could understand.

"Just... try to consider this, all right? You're under the influence of a virus. It's effecting the way you think; the way you... feel. You're going to snap out of it eventually.

"You said yourself you've felt a bit different lately. That's the effects of the virus."

"I...guess it could be a virus, Azula. That doesn't mean we can't enjoy it while it lasts, does it?

Azula turned her head away. I'm not the one who's going to change her mind- you are.

Ty Lee tightened her arms again, sighing as she did so. "I take that as a no."

"What would the point be?"

"It'd feel nice, be fun...and even if I'm affected by a virus, you're not. You'd remember it and that's a good thing."

"It doesn't work that way.

"If I could, I'd forget... all of this. Starting with that first night."

Ty Lee didn't say anything. Azula seemed...less happy than she should have been. It confused her.

This was pointless. Azula was going to go back inside and go to bed, leaving Ty Lee standing out here like an idiot. Alone.

Instead, she ended up turning around and hugging her. Funny how that sort of thing happens.

OOC: Sorry, because I'm a total dork, I've forgotten- did the whole "last night" thing with these two stem from the virus? (I iz st00pid question person today :P).

Finally...progress. Azula was finally reacting. Ty Lee smiled to herself and pressed against her again/

((No, it was a "I've gotten you into some trouble lately and I wanted to make it up" thing. XD Azula's just paranoid.))

Almost reluctantly, Azula reached up and rested her hand on Ty Lee's head, anchoring it against her shoulder.

OOC: Aha... so it was a one-time type of deal?

Ty Lee reacted well to that, relaxing her grip slightly.

((Kinda, yeah. Probably might have happened again without the virus but...yeah. XD))

"You don't know what you're doing," she whispered, as much to herself as to Ty Lee.

OOC: Heh, Azula's going to be all DDDDDD: once this is over, because she's kind of secretly hoping things will stay the way they are now, virus or not... XD

"I do," she replied offhandedly, before lightly giving Azula's neck what could have been considered a kiss.

((Dammit, Azula. Just admit it. >> She just likes her Ty Lee, I guess...and it seems the virus wants to push their relationship. >>))
