Isn't Christmas over a month away? Why is everyone talking about it already?

It's all over Earth, too. I never bothered to ask last year; is it a national or a worldwide holiday?

It's all over! And people like planning ahead because it's the best holiday ever!

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not on my world.

I don't remember anything particularly special about it.

Christmas hype always starts early, and it gets a little earlier every year.

I'm not going to go as far as to say it's worldwide, but it's celebrated in several different countries.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Why? What's so special about it?

[identity profile] intuitivelyapt.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone loves celebrating capitalism!

Oh, and I guess Jesus is kind of important, too.

[identity profile] touchofgenius.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a religious holiday technically. But because Christianity is so wide-spread, it's basically a worldwide holiday. And it is early, but if you want to get any sort of decent gift for people, you do have to start ridiculously early like this.

[identity profile] touchofgenius.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Because everyone else starts ridiculously early like this. Besides, a few of my gifts I'm actually getting personalized so I need to give the guy plenty of time to do his job.

are you giving people bodies Birkin 8|

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Why do you care so much? You can give people presents anytime.

...Maybe :|

[identity profile] touchofgenius.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the whole point of Christmas is giving presents so... Sure you can give them any time, but it's just more... Special this time of year.

What? That's a good present.

[identity profile] touchofgenius.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Because... Uh. Some old dead guys said so. Because Jesus was evidently born that day and the three wise men brought him presents. It's a really happy joyous day. And people decorate their houses and such. I'm not even part of the religion and I still like it.

[identity profile] gluttonforpasta.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Veh, well it's all over the world here.

It's special because it's when everybody gets together and is nice to each other and gives gifts and the food's really great and the decorations are nice and there's colors and bright lights everywhere!

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm never nice to anybody.

[identity profile] gluttonforpasta.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Veh, your loss then. That's part of why Christmas is so nice!

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't sound so different from our festivals.

[identity profile] gluttonforpasta.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
What are your festivals?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Celebrations of war victories, mostly. Some have to do with the seasons, like the Fire Lily Festivals in August.

[identity profile] future-games.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it started out as a religious holiday, but it's really all commercialized now.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I've noticed. It's all over the stores.

[identity profile] gluttonforpasta.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
The seasonal festivals idea sounds really nice. We don't really have those so much anymore here.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not?

What religion? "Christian"?

[identity profile] future-games.livejournal.com 2009-11-14 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. They're already setting up the displays here in the city. Seems like it happens earlier and earlier every year.
