Isn't Christmas over a month away? Why is everyone talking about it already?

It's all over Earth, too. I never bothered to ask last year; is it a national or a worldwide holiday?

Why wouldn't I be?

Training isn't fun! Training's hard and it makes you tired and you don't get to take a siesta!

I think it's fun.

Okay, so you can have training and I'll keep silly pictures and Christmas and that stuff.

Fine. I don't even celebrate Christmas.

That's too bad. But that's okay 'cuz you have the seasonal festivals and other stuff.

Exactly. I don't need any more holidays.

Yeah, you wouldn't have time for anything else if you had too many.

We don't overload ourselves with holidays the way Earth citizens do.

Veh, we don't overload. Christmas is the only big one for the rest of the year.

There's less than two months left in the year; that's hardly a feat.

Still, there's nothing wrong with having a really big holiday every few months and some littler ones in the between. People like them and they're fun to look forward to.

They waste time.

But they're fun, and it gives people time to relax, and it helps people remember important events and stuff.

Nobody needs to relax that much.

A few times every month is too much relaxing?

It's too many holidays.

Veh, well, my people like to have them. And ours are some of the best in the world, so I don't think we're getting rid of them anytime soon.

What's so great about them?

They're beautiful and wonderful! And they have gorgeous costumes and masks and music and art and delicious foods and bright colors and there's dances and parades and singing and circuses and so many people come to see it!

But do they have purpose?

Celebrating!
