[The audio starts out immediately with Azula's voice-- too quiet and unclear to understand at first, but it becomes audible pretty quickly. She sounds quite a bit more calm than she has lately, because she's actually talking-- albeit to somebody who's heavily sedated in their hospital bed. Of course, she's only doing it because (she thinks) no one can really hear.]

-- and Father's trying to manipulate me into helping him with his pointless and ill-planned schemes, Mother's trying to browbeat me into a younger version of herself, and Ty Lee is still being awful. She thinks she say and do whatever she wants, and then she just expects me to act like nothing ever happened. I don't care if she misses me or if I miss her, I'm through with dealing with her lies. I'd rather be... I'd rather be completely alone than friends with someone like that. I can't STAND people who lie; I can't stand never knowing whether to believe what comes out of their mouths.

That's one reason why I hate the viruses here. They turn everybody into liars.

[She pauses for a few moments, and when she speaks again her voice is almost-- but not quite-- as cold as her words would imply:]

You'd better stop dying soon. It's getting boring just sitting around here.

I didn't want to do it. You were right; I wouldn't--

[Suddenly there's the sound of someone walking down the hall, and Azula stops talking. She stays silent even after whoever it was is long gone.]

Newsflash princess, a hell of a lot of people were worried about you, and you hurt a few of them pretty goddamn bad!! You've got no room to tell me to watch my tone when you've done nothing but be rude since you woke up!!

It's not about 'respect', it's about treating people decently! You're not the only person with problems, and when you treat everyone around you like dirt? It's you who doesn't deserve any respect!!

No, you really don't understand-- it is about respect. I've EARNED respect from the people that matter-- my citizens, my soldiers, my father. If they choose not to give it despite that, that's their problem, not mine. But the people here? Have done nothing. I don't just give away this sort of thing, and I'm certainly not going to be kind to the people who've been accusing me of all sorts of ridiculous things. My patience for people acting like this is wearing extremely thin. Hasn't it ever occurred to you all that the person who really caused all this-- the person who really needs to be chased down and attacked-- is still walking around scot-free?

You are dirt. When she injects someone new, you'll all see.

The doctor that injected you with that stuff is going to have to deal with the consequences, but when you attack people, no matter why you did it, it's still you who has to deal with those consequences too. It sucks, but it's the truth.

But, I'm not talking about you attacking people, here, I'm talking about your behavior before, and since.
I get that you're some kind of leader in your world, but just expecting everyone to respect you, without you doing anything so little as be decent to them--and there is a difference between kindness, and decency--it makes you no better than a doctor who thinks injecting you with some crazy drug is right.

It does make me better, actually. And I don't care if you think I should suffer the consequences even if it's not my fault-- I refuse to. End of story.

Refusing to be people's scapegoat doesn't make me spoiled.

People can take care of their own friends. I'm not going to visit each and every hospital room.

And apathy doesn't generally lead to mocking people, but you do a fair amount of that, too.
