Try her trust, push it a little. Make her promise to keep a secret (one that won't do any harm to your reputation, of course, a lie would work) and then try to push the circumstances (while she's in the dark) so that she likely tell the secret to a great number of people. If she resists the temptation, well, you can trust her then, eh?

I take great satisfaction in scaring people, particularly when being hurt by me is the last thing that they were expecting. But with her... when she's scared or even when I just think she is, I want to... help... her. Not hurt her. It's quite bizarre.

Some people have that nature...this, ah, how am I to put this? Presence, I suppose, that makes them seem more vulnerable. If you take pleasure in scaring people, it seems this person is one of that type.
