You'd be wrong. Mental stability doesn't necessarily have significant effect on physical ability. After all, he had to get his hands on all those people he's kidnapped somehow, didn't he?
You assume that that's all he can do. It may very well be true, but I have far less to lose by considering all possibilities than by underestimating him.
