{VIDEO} she'll totally use this shit to her advantage if she's ever ousted again

[Heeeeeere's Azula sitting in a nondescript, unidenifiable (THAT THAT, JOKER) hotel room, fiddling around with what looks a bit like some sort of video camera]

[Suddenly, an image pops up on its screen-- it's the Fire Nation throne room, which is pretty quiet and empty at the moment]

[Azula's lips twitch upward slightly; JUST AS PLANNED]

[So proud of his baby, getting more paranoid by the day.]

That'll be useful.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[stfu I am not paranoid]

Now I can know exactly when I need to go back.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yes, you are, even if they really ARE out to get you, for example, Kuroro.]

So I take it's more than just surveillance of your throne room then?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's all I need to watch. The throne room is the center of it all-- if something goes wrong anywhere, my guards will notice, and they'll go to the throne room. Then I'll see them.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not so sure. What if it's late, and you should be in bed?

It's could also arouse a little suspicion if you're never in there when they arrive, but instead appear shortly afterwards. Perhaps an early warning system could be integrated into it.

...This sort of technology isn't native to your world is it? With a set up like this, you could easily watch key points without anyone even knowing.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be there when it's expected of me, but it's no concern of theirs where I choose to be in my free time.

... How?

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
But if it's an extreme emergency? One where your free time would have to be erased?

For one thing, there's the fact that no one could even suspect they're being watched. Even if you barely disguise a camera, no one will realise you're watching. It's possible to connect several cameras to one hub- insert them as you like anywhere you wish, even give them as gifts to people. No one will have the slightest idea.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
... I'm going to stay here.

Show me.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I always thought you would-I'm just suggesting all the possible angles of looking at the situation.

Show you what? Multiple camera connections or disguised cameras? Or how to do it?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I've already done so. It's the reason I did what I did.

All of the above.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you've made a good start, but the thing about angles is there are always a few more to cover.

Very well. If we're looking for easy to disguise, long lasting cameras, I can get some Silk Eye MRK III cameras. They're about the size of a man's fingernail, wireless and powered by ambient light. It would be easy to hide them, especially if no one is looking. The range is usually about 100 metres, but a world spanning connection just throws those rules away.

Essentially, the hub would be a computer that picked up all their signals at once. It would be able to show you several camera feeds at once, cycle routinely through them and you would be able to choose any one feed to focus on. They can even be programmed to show only ones detecting motion.

As for how, it all depends on the sorts of places you want checked, and if you're doing it yourself.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Where would I keep a computer?

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Anywhere you wanted. You wouldn't even need a full sized computer. A palm sized type would work-something the size of a phone.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
... This book I have functions as a computer. Would that work?

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't make any sense if it did, but that has never stopped the community before, so if you're interested we might as well try.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I can get my hands on some Silk Eye MRK IIIs in a few days,, so we can test things and see how you like it then.

I would like something in return, however.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I want you and I to finally set a date for me start teaching you Nen.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
As do I-- but I can't start right now. I'm busy.

[busy hanging out in a hotel room MM-HM AWWW YEAH]

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't say right now. I said I want a date. Clear some time so I can get the barest basics out of the way, and then once we've assessed the situation, we can work out your pace, work it around your schedule and finally, I'll know if I can teach and you'll know if you can learn.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I can learn.

I can't give you a date yet because I don't know how things are going to go.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I suggest you find out. You've got a country under your rule. Pick a day, go there, and it's your day.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not about my country! The Fire Nation is stable. The Fire Nation is always stable.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Then why do you have to worry about not knowing how things will go?

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
And they are your concern why?

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably not, no.

But, I think that if you're having to set up a machine to tell you when you need to return, that's a warning sign.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I am NOT neglecting my duties. The fact that I'm monitoring my country even when I'm on another world is proof of that.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It's proof it's your secondary priority.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Then why are you watching it on a screen instead of being there yourself?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Because no one is there all the time!

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
And if the one time you're not there and your camera isn't working, happens to be the same time someone needs you-

You'll just say that no one is there all the time.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
When they need me I'll come! I WON'T fail!

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's a problem. 'When they need me.'

You're their ruler. They always need you.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Which is why I'm always watching, and why I'm there every day.
