Not being able to worldhop by myself is incredibly inconvenient. If no one is willing to take you somewhere, you're stuck. Not that I particularly cared about going to Gotham, but now that I'm out of the hospital I need something to do.

... For everyone who doesn't have servants or private hairdressers: what do you do when you need a trim? Do you just cut it yourself?

I think they go out to have that done, if they don't have someone to do it for them.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Go where?

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You can go out to a hairdresser in town to get it cut. Some of them even do home calls, if you phone up. But I think that's only a few.

I don't know how to drive a car.

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Public transport?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Taxis are expensive.

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Then catch the bus? That's usually a lot cheaper. Or you could always walk!

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know where to get any Earth money at all. And I don't know how close any are; I'm staying in the suburbs. I don't want to walk for miles just to get a trim; that's ridiculous.

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
...Oh, I see. I'd suggest begging but you don't seem the type. Can't you ask for some money from whoever you're staying with?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That counts as begging.

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell them you'll pay it back?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I told you I don't have Earth money.

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
...Pretend to pay them back?

[identity profile] blowawaytopknot.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
There are people that cut hair for a living. Barbers and stylists.

[identity profile] autobot-girl.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Go to a salon.

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
...Okay, well, cut your hair yourself then.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I know what barbers are. I just don't know how and where they operate on Earth.

[identity profile] 8fingerswhiskey.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you serious? You go to get your hair cut somewhere.

That is unless you can do it yourself.

[identity profile] blowawaytopknot.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay.

Why don't you ask someone around? Or use that nifty phone invention. Or take a walk to find one? They usually aren't hard to spot. If you go out and ask any woman on the street, I'm sure she'd know the where-to and where-nots

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Just for a trim?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose I have no choice.

[identity profile] autobot-girl.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
They cut hair there too, ya know.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see the point of going to a salon just for a trim. At home I'd just have a servant do it; I wouldn't even go to the spa.

[identity profile] det-goofball.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Although, you oughta be careful... I did that once and it didn't turn out very well.
